8 and Under: Rules and Regulations for Baja Softball
- Everyone plays both at bat and on the field
- Games will be 1 hour
- No official scores will be kept
- The distance from the front side of the pitcher’s plate to the point of home plate shall be 30 feet.
- Base paths distance will be 60 feet in length
- The pitching circle shall be 8 feet in radius, with the center of the circle 40 feet from the point of home plate.
- The defensive team shall have no more than 6 infielders. All other available players shall be positioned in the outfield at least 10 feet behind the baselines until the ball is batted.
- All available players shall be listed in the batting order and shall bat in their turn.
- In the case of injury or illness, the injured of ill player shall miss her turn at bat with no penalty.
- Use of the Tee
A) When a batter gets 4 “balls” from the pitcher, the batter uses the tee to hit the ball
B) When a batter gets 3 “strikes” from the pitcher, the batter uses the tee to hit the ball
- Base runners must remain on base until the ball is batted. There shall be no stealing of bases.
- The infield fly rule is not in effect.
- A pitcher who hits 3 batters with pitched balls in the same game shall be removed from that game as the “pitcher”.
- Play shall stop when the umpire declares “Time Out” because the defensive team has stopped the advance of the lead runner or when a member of the defensive team has control of the ball inside the pitching circle with no attempt from the base runner to advance to the next base.
- An inning shall end when:
A) The last batter in the batting order strikes out or hits the ball and gets on base.
B) The defensive team gets the third out
C) A defensive player touches home plate while in possession of the ball after the ball is put into play by the last batter in the batting order
